Appalled by the frequent typos in Raw Vision’s early
issues, Dave Stevens volunteered to take on the role of copy
editor at no cost to the magazine. As a result of his work,
the grammar and accuracy of the magazine’s texts improved
considerably and Stevens kindly continued with this labour
of love for the following 16 years.
Under the pen name of Jack Lee he published his first novel
Baked Alaska in 1989 and was nearing completion of
Patsy, a musical drama based on the various events
surrounding the assasination of President Kennedy. He was
a keen authority on the war rugs of Afghanistan, and held
one of the largest collections in Britain, carefully assembled
over many years.
He died suddenly after a short illness on September 26 and
will be missed by many more than just those at the magazine.
